About the Role
Deloitte is seeking an experienced Database Administrator Contractor to join our remote project team. In this role, you will manage, maintain, and optimize critical database environments while ensuring system reliability, data security, and operational excellence. As a Database Administrator Contractor, you will work closely with stakeholders, developers, and operations teams to implement best practices, monitor performance, and support continuous improvement across multiple database platforms. Key Responsibilities for a Database Administrator Contractor

Provide day-to-day administration of databases, including installations, migrations, deployments, service requests, and patching/upgrades.

Monitor relational databases to optimize performance, resource usage, and physical implementations.

Enforce database modeling best practices, including design, indexing strategies, and SQL coding.

Participate in after-hours on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 database availability.

Troubleshoot integration issues, migrations, capacity planning, and new application deployments.

Represent the database team during troubleshooting calls and critical war room activities.

Develop and maintain documentation, policies, procedures, and guidelines for database operations.

Plan and implement security measures to protect sensitive information against unauthorized access or loss.

Conduct daily system health checks and report results to maintain overall environment health.

Ensure regular backups and the ability to reliably restore databases for critical applications.

Research and evaluate new tools or systems to enhance team processes and capabilities.
Required Qualifications

5–7 years of database administration experience with DBMS such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or similar.

3–5 years of experience with cloud-based environments (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).

Advanced knowledge of enterprise database monitoring and backup/recovery tools.

Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and/or Unix-based operating systems.

Strong skills in Microsoft Office and Windows client operating systems.

US Citizenship is required.

Little to no travel required.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with multiple database management systems, including cloud-based PaaS solutions.

Ability to create proof-of-concept environments and provide recommendations for procurement and process improvement.
Compensation and Schedule

Pay Range: $85–$90 per hour (dependent on experience, skills, and location).

Contract Type: Remote, full-time support for Deloitte project team.

Work Hours: Approx. 40 hours/week, with flexible remote schedule.
