Performance One Data Solutions, part of the employee-owned Ross Group Inc., is seeking a skilled Database Administrator specializing in MySQL and PostgreSQL. As a Database Administrator, you will ensure the performance, security, and reliability of our clients’ database systems while supporting day-to-day operations. This remote role allows the Database Administrator to collaborate with developers and IT professionals, maintain high availability, and optimize database performance. Key Responsibilities for Database Administrator

  • Manage and maintain MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, including backups, restores, and migrations.

  • Monitor database performance, optimize queries, and conduct performance tuning for high availability.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot database-related issues such as connectivity problems, bottlenecks, or data integrity concerns.

  • Implement and enforce database security policies, managing user access, permissions, and roles.

  • Collaborate with developers and IT teams on database design, schema modifications, and new feature implementation.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.


Required Skills for Database Administrator

  • 3+ years of professional experience as a Database Administrator.

  • Strong expertise in MySQL or PostgreSQL.

  • Solid understanding of relational database theory, database architecture, and SQL.

  • Experience with backup and recovery strategies.

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and performance optimization techniques.

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.


Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle.

  • Knowledge of cloud database platforms (AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, Azure Database).

  • Experience with automation and scripting (Bash, Python).

  • Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional or MySQL Database Administrator.
