Position Summary
Keplr is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join the Business Intelligence team. Reporting to the Manager of Data Engineering, the DBA will ensure the availability, security, and optimal performance of Keplr’s database systems. This role focuses on maintaining a reliable data environment that supports analytics, business intelligence, and operational reporting, including early-shift coverage for critical business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Database Management & Maintenance

Manage, monitor, and maintain production and development databases (SQL Server, Databricks, Azure SQL).

Perform regular backups, restores, patching, and upgrades to ensure high availability.

Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and capacity planning.

Implement security best practices, including user access controls and compliance with HIPAA and data privacy standards.
Troubleshooting & Support

Diagnose and resolve database issues promptly, including after-hours escalation when needed.

Provide proactive monitoring of system health and mitigate risks before they affect operations.

Support ETL, reporting, and data warehouse initiatives in collaboration with Data Architecture, Analytics, and IT teams.
Data Migration & Documentation

Lead migration efforts from SQL-based systems to Databricks environments.

Develop and maintain clear documentation of database systems, policies, and procedures.

Participate in on-call rotation as required to support early-morning operations.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).

5+ years of hands-on DBA experience in SQL Server, Azure SQL, or other enterprise databases.

Strong expertise in performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.

Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure and Databricks preferred.

Familiarity with ETL processes, BI tools, and data warehousing concepts.

Knowledge of database security, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.

Strong problem-solving skills, independence, and early-shift availability.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
Work Schedule

Shift: 4:00 AM – 1:00 PM Central Time

Must provide consistent coverage for early-morning business operations and reporting needs.
