Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our internal database systems. This role focuses on SQL Server (2012–2022), Azure databases, and hybrid cloud environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and data security. You will also provide guidance to developers, automate processes, and implement disaster recovery solutions.


Key Responsibilities

Database Administration & Maintenance

  • Install, update, and maintain SQL Server databases across multiple versions (2012–2022).

  • Design, implement, and maintain SQL Server and MySQL database systems for performance and reliability.

  • Manage database performance, monitor health, and resolve processing or programming issues.

  • Implement database security policies, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) procedures.

  • Monitor capacity and optimize queries, indexing strategies, and stored procedures.

Cloud & Migration

  • Support database migrations from on-premises to cloud environments, with a focus on Azure SQL and Azure Managed Instances.

  • Collaborate with DevOps to configure and manage SQL Server instances in hybrid environments.

  • Design and maintain SQL Server availability groups across data centers.

Automation & Development Support

  • Automate routine database operations and deployments using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, ARM templates) and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Maintain and administer SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS solutions; support Power BI analytics.

  • Provide guidance to developers on schema design, query tuning, and best practices.

  • Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and failover runbooks.

On-Call & Incident Support

  • Be available for on-call support to address urgent database issues and ensure minimal downtime.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience with SQL Server (2012–2022), Azure SQL, and cloud database management.

  • Hands-on experience with database migrations to cloud environments.

  • Expertise in SSAS, SSIS, SSRS; Power BI experience preferred.

  • Proficiency in SQL query optimization, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.

  • Experience with scripting and automation: PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible.

  • Knowledge of relational and dimensional data modeling.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication.

  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux scripting for database management tasks.

  • Advanced knowledge of database security, DR strategies, and backup/recovery standards.


Salary Range
$120,000 – $170,000 annually (based on location, experience, and skills).
