Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our IT team. This role will focus on the administration, maintenance, and optimization of Oracle databases and related systems within Knife River’s IT environment. You will play a key role in installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and long-term planning, as well as contribute to IT strategy through technical insight, development, and system integration.
This position may be based in Bismarck, ND or near a Knife River location, with remote, on-site, or hybrid options available.
Key Responsibilities

Administer and maintain Oracle databases, including installation, configuration, replication, and troubleshooting.

Support business applications teams in planning and implementing IT initiatives aligned with company strategy.

Monitor system performance, review logs, and apply database/OS patches and upgrades.

Develop and maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) systems.

Work with database integrations using OBIEE, SQL, ODBC, OLEDB, VB, VB.NET, C#, C++.

Support JDE E1 ERP systems, including data support, security, SOX compliance, and processing queue tuning.

Execute DB2 SQL scripts for ERP support.

Collaborate with CNC providers, ERP teams, and end-users to resolve complex issues.

Provide technical support for specialized applications, troubleshoot problems, and escalate as needed.

Assist with network administration (printers, workstations, servers).

Document processes, changes, and database updates following standard protocols.

Participate in on-call rotation and respond to technical emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, OR equivalent experience.

Minimum 5 years of IT experience.

Strong technical background with Oracle databases, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), ERP systems, and systems integration.

Experience with programming (Windows-based), Microsoft Office, and project management tools.

Knowledge of LANs, WANs, and client-server environments.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience managing Oracle databases in OCI.

Familiarity with replication tools (GoldenGate).

JDE E1 ERP data support experience.
Other Requirements

Valid driver’s license (may be required).

Up to 10% travel.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both technical and non-technical teams.

Strong time management, multi-tasking, and leadership abilities.
