About the Job: Defensive Cyber Analyst – United States Space Force (Night Shift)

Tyto Athene is seeking a motivated Defensive Cyber Analyst to join our team supporting the United States Space Force (USSF) Space Operations Command (SpOC) at Schriever Space Force Base (SFB), CO. You will be crucial in providing continuous cybersecurity monitoring, intrusion detection, and cyber incident response as part of the SPICES contract.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing cyber incidents, correlating details, and developing response strategies.
  • Recommending improvements to existing security tools and suggesting new capabilities.
  • Monitoring government-provided cyber defense tools and systems.
  • Conducting after-action reviews to document mitigation efforts.
  • Participating in the development of cyber defense tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
  • Contributing to the creation of cyber defense concepts of operations, processes, and procedures.
  • Identifying and reporting security discrepancies and incidents.
  • Providing expert research and analysis to support program growth.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum one active DoD 8570.07-M CSSP “Analyst” or “Incident Responder” certification (CEH, CySA+, GCIH, GCIA, CFR, CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA-Security, GICSP, Cloud+, SCYBER, PenTest+, CHFI, or GCFA).
  • 1-3 years of cybersecurity/IT experience.
  • Experience in continuous cybersecurity monitoring, intrusion detection, and cyber incident response.
  • Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP) experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Space Operations highly desired.
  • Experience with tools such as Elastic Stack, Kibana, Suricata, Splunk, Snort, Wireshark, Bro/Zeek logs, tcpdump, editcap, ACAS, Microsoft Office 365, Python, or Bash scripting.
  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance.
  • Willingness to work Night Shift (Sun-Tues or Wed-Fri, and every other Saturday).

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range typically $100K-$120K (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
