Key Responsibilities – Deputy Head of Department – Construction
Academic Leadership & Curriculum Development
- Deputise regularly for the Head of Department and oversee curriculum planning.
- Develop and implement programmes of study that prepare students for sustainable careers.
- Support the design of inclusive and innovative teaching approaches.
- Ensure students with SEND have access to high-quality learning opportunities.
Quality Assurance & Student Success
- Monitor and enhance teaching, learning, and assessment standards.
- Work closely with teaching staff to drive excellence and student achievement.
- Promote best practices in education and industry standards.
Staff Development & Mentorship
- Mentor and support teaching and academic staff within the department.
- Lead training initiatives to enhance teaching quality and student engagement.
What You Need to Succeed as Deputy Head of Department – Construction
Qualified teacher status with experience in Carpentry & Joinery.
Degree or equivalent vocational/professional qualification.
Proven track record of high-quality teaching and assessment.
Commitment to achieving a formal management qualification within three years.
Passion for curriculum development and student success.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
