Job Summary
The University of Edinburgh is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Maintenance Services Manager to support the operational delivery of maintenance services across a diverse and prestigious estate of over 350 buildings. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated professional with a background in maintenance or facilities management to lead multi-disciplinary teams and drive service excellence in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage Area Team Leaders across multiple zones to ensure the effective delivery of maintenance services.

Oversee and monitor circa 50,000 planned and reactive work requests annually.

Deliver service performance aligned with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Analyze operational data to improve workload planning and team efficiency.

Ensure all activities comply with relevant Health and Safety and statutory regulations.

Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and drive continual service improvements.

Support staff development and foster a collaborative team culture.

Assist in financial and budgetary control as required.

Utilize Microsoft Office tools and CAFM systems for scheduling, reporting, and communications.
Person Specification
Essential Skills and Experience

Proven experience in maintenance or facilities management across large estates.

Strong leadership and team management capabilities.

Technical qualifications relevant to building or maintenance disciplines.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.

Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
-
Ability to interpret complex data and generate clear, actionable reports.

Solid knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, and statutory building maintenance requirements.

Experience working with CAFM systems and Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel and Outlook).
