Deputy Ward Manager – Ward 12

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager to join our team on Ward 12 at North Tyneside General Hospital. Ward 12 is a 23-bed Care of the Elderly unit, known for its innovative and forward-thinking approach to patient care.

We are seeking a dedicated professional who is committed to delivering safe, high-quality patient care while serving as a role model and providing support to our junior staff. Collaboration is key on Ward 12, with a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary teamwork to ensure safe and timely patient discharges or transfers to the most appropriate care settings.

About the Role

As part of a dynamic nursing team, you will be responsible for delivering all aspects of patient care with excellent communication skills. You will coordinate the ward and support the Ward Manager, gaining valuable clinical and managerial experience. While previous experience in a similar setting is desirable, it is not essential.

In this role, you will:

  • Assist in planning, delivering, and evaluating nursing care.
  • Take charge of nursing services in the absence of the Ward Manager.
  • Lead a team of nurses with innovation and leadership.
  • Foster a compassionate and inclusive leadership culture within the Trust.

About Us

Our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital was the first of its kind in England. Additionally, we provide care at home and through local health centres, ensuring patients receive personalized, high-quality care that promotes independent living and reduces unnecessary hospital admissions.

We are committed to delivering exceptional patient experiences and have one of the most comprehensive patient experience programmes of any NHS Trust in England.
