About the Role

As a DevOps Engineer at Safeguard Properties, you’ll play a key role in scaling, supporting, and enhancing the infrastructure that powers our platforms and applications. Your primary focus will be on maintaining system health, ensuring reliability, implementing monitoring and alerting, and managing seamless production deployments. This position requires close collaboration with IT and development teams to resolve both software and hardware issues, while also participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and manage scalable infrastructure within AWS, with a focus on:

    • Windows EC2 instances

    • Auto Scaling Group configuration

    • SQL Server on RDS

    • EC2 Image Builder

    • Hybrid Patch Management using AWS Systems Manager (SSM)

  • Build, release, and configure production environments across AWS platforms

  • Maintain and enhance infrastructure-as-code using Terraform:

    • Automate provisioning and configuration

    • Maintain reusable and modular code

    • Implement best practices for infrastructure as code

  • Integrate and configure Okta for application access, security policies, and workflow automation

  • Collaborate with development teams to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines across all environments

  • Ensure high system uptime and proactively improve SLA performance

  • Support production systems and provide 24×7 support through scheduled on-call rotations

  • Perform administration tasks, including installations, upgrades, performance tuning, and monitoring of in-house and third-party applications

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and stakeholders effectively

  • Provide prototypes or proof of concept for new solutions

  • Foster technical partnerships and act as a liaison to key decision-makers

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator across Windows, Linux, or Unix platforms or cloud environments

  • Deep understanding of networking protocols, system configuration, and automation

  • Hands-on experience in AWS: EC2, RDS, ELB, S3, ECS, EKS, SSM, and other core services

  • Skilled in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar tools

  • Proficient in containerization technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, DC/OS, Tectonic, etc.

  • Experience with DevOps tools in cloud environments: Ansible, GitHub, Jenkins

  • Knowledge of AWS Well-Architected Framework and best practices

  • Familiar with monitoring and alerting tools: CloudWatch, Nagios, Graphite, SolarWinds, PagerDuty

  • Experience with common web servers and application platforms: IIS, Apache, Tomcat, NGINX, Elasticsearch, HAProxy

  • Scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, PowerShell, Go, AWS CLI/API, or similar

  • Strong experience with source control, CI/CD, and team collaboration tools

  • Knowledge of ITIL/ITSM frameworks and security best practices

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills

  • Proven ability to adapt to new technologies and environments quickly
