Job Summary
PingWind is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs in building efficient, secure, and automated cloud environments. This fully remote position involves working across the entire software development lifecycle, focusing on automation, scalability, and system reliability.
Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployment.

Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or AWS CloudFormation to automate provisioning.

Develop and manage monitoring and alerting systems using Datadog, Splunk, CloudWatch, or Prometheus.

Deploy and manage applications on AWS (and/or Azure); optimize performance and cost efficiency.

Write automation scripts in Bash, Python, or PowerShell to streamline repetitive tasks.

Integrate security checks and DevSecOps practices into pipelines; ensure compliance with standards.

Configure containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, and Helm.

Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including Nginx, Vault, and encryption systems.

Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies; routinely test recovery procedures.

Analyze system performance and recommend optimizations for reliability and efficiency.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (development, QA, IT) to promote DevOps best practices.

Stay up to date with emerging DevOps and cloud technologies and lead adoption of new tools.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or 8 years equivalent experience).

Minimum of 5 years of DevOps or cloud engineering experience.

Strong understanding of CI/CD, automation, and cloud infrastructure.

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
-
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
-
U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
