DIETITIAN – MEDS CLINIC, OUTPATIENT

Basic Function:

The Registered Dietitian is responsible for ensuring the nutritional aspects of patient care, while also providing education and counseling services to patients, families, and the community. This role involves both inpatient and outpatient care, with a strong emphasis on the Nutrition Care Process and Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT).

Key Job Duties:

  • Complete the Nutrition Care Process for patients/residents per policy.

  • Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for referred MEDS Clinic patients.

  • Deliver inpatient and outpatient education tailored to individual needs.

  • Act as a consultant to physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare staff.

  • Implement dietary prescriptions, recommend supplements, and manage enteral feedings.

  • Create and deliver staff development and in-service training for dietary personnel.

  • Conduct community education sessions (e.g., diabetes classes, Lunch-and-Learn, support groups).

  • Prepare and evaluate patient and community education materials.

  • Support Wound Clinic and ACCN nutrition needs.

  • Attend interdisciplinary meetings and participate in quality assurance programs.

  • Maintain safety, sanitation, and compliance standards.

  • Regularly check email and complete online learning assignments (Relias).

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education, Training & Experience:

  • Registered Dietitian (RD), licensed in the state of Ohio.

  • Strong ability to educate clients of diverse backgrounds and education levels.

  • Competency in the Nutrition Care Process.

  • Computer literacy required (experience with iPad, smartboard, projector, etc.).

  • CDE credential preferred but not required.

  • Must demonstrate decision-making skills, flexibility, and ability to manage diverse patient needs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand/walk for up to 7.5 hours/day.

  • Ability to bend, reach overhead, and lift up to 25 lbs routinely.

  • Clear vision and hearing, with ability to communicate effectively in-person and by phone.

  • Manual dexterity for writing and typing (up to 4 hours at a time).
