Job Description
Join our team as a Digital IT Support Specialist at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), one of England’s largest NHS Trusts with a turnover of £2.8bn. In this pivotal role, you’ll maintain our technology infrastructure, including installations, configurations, upgrades, and support for client systems on desktops and virtual Windows servers. You’ll also support our electronic patient record system, EPIC, and provide technical guidance to ensure seamless 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line support services.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist Digital IT Support and End User Technology teams in planning and delivering high-quality end-user technologies aligned with healthcare standards and EPIC best practices.

Provide technical expertise in administering supporting infrastructure and applications, including antivirus systems, VDI environments, hardware asset management, and mobile device management tools.

Maintain the Trust’s systems and applications in both on-premises and cloud-based environments.

Advise on capacity and availability management, recommending efficient and effective solutions.

Lead the installation, configuration, management, maintenance, and monitoring of all workspace devices, hardware, and software upgrades in line with Trust standards.

Provide specialist technical advice on the security and confidentiality of the Trust’s PCs, mobile devices, and data against security breaches.

Manage, monitor, and resolve incidents, problems, and service requests within agreed timescales, processes, and procedures.

Support the delivery of seamless digital support services, covering 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line support with a focus on knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience.

Microsoft MCP/MSCE qualifications or relevant experience.

Evidence of personal development.
Experience:
-
Extensive technical background in IT infrastructure support.

Experience in large, complex workspaces with various devices.

Proficiency in Windows operating systems installation and management.

Advanced knowledge in Server & Desktop Virtualization, Exchange/Email, Active Directory, SCCM.

Experience managing Virtual Desktop Environments.

Proven experience in business/disaster recovery planning and service continuity.

Knowledge of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Best Practices.

Experience in capacity planning, availability, and performance monitoring in a PC environment.
