D.B. Craig and Associates, a healthcare executive search firm with a strong track record in placing top-tier leadership since 2005, is currently conducting a confidential search for a Director of Pharmacy to join a reputable 260-bed acute care hospital in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospital pharmacist to take the next step in their career and lead a dynamic inpatient pharmacy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all pharmacy operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing medication safety and efficiency, and fostering a high-performance environment through collaborative leadership.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to the hospital pharmacy department

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations (state, federal, and Joint Commission standards)

  • Oversee medication distribution, inventory control, sterile compounding, and formulary management

  • Lead initiatives to improve patient safety, clinical outcomes, and cost-effective drug use

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and hospital leadership on clinical programs and protocols

  • Manage, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy staff performance

  • Lead quality assurance programs and participate in interdisciplinary committees as needed

  • Stay current on best practices, drug trends, and technological advancements in pharmacy services

  • Maintain accountability for departmental budgeting, staffing, and policy development


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BPharm) – Required
    (Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) is a plus but not mandatory)

Licensure

  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the State of New Mexico (or eligibility to obtain) – Required

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent hospital pharmacy experience – Required

  • At least 1 year of proven leadership or supervisory experience within a hospital pharmacy setting – Required


Compensation & Benefits

Annual Salary Range:

  • $130,000 to $160,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience
