Job Overview
Macy’s is seeking a Director, Technical SEO to lead our enterprise-level search optimization initiatives. In this role, you’ll define and drive Macy’s technical SEO strategy, focusing on platform performance, site discoverability, indexation, structured data, mobile optimization, and scalable link architecture. You will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Analytics, and Merchandising teams to solve complex challenges and support long-term organic growth.
This is a key leadership role that manages a high-performing team and contributes directly to Macy’s digital success story.
Key Responsibilities

Translate SEO strategy into technical requirements and scalable initiatives

Develop and maintain a robust technical SEO roadmap

Conduct regular audits and provide actionable recommendations for site health, crawlability, rendering, performance, and indexation

Drive structured data implementation, Core Web Vitals compliance, and mobile parity

Collaborate with Product & Engineering to integrate SEO into product sprints and release cycles

Lead SEO oversight for site migrations, template rollouts, and platform enhancements

Manage and mentor a growing SEO team (1 Sr. Manager, 2 Specialists)

Utilize tools like Botify, Screaming Frog, GSC, and Adobe Analytics to diagnose issues and monitor performance

Represent SEO in cross-functional planning meetings and technical roadmaps

Establish clear KPIs, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms to measure impact
Required Skills & Experience

7+ years of technical SEO experience, ideally within large-scale ecommerce or content-driven environments

Strong working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript frameworks, server/client-side rendering, and performance optimization

Deep expertise in structured data, mobile rendering, indexation, internal linking, and Core Web Vitals

Proven experience leading SEO during site migrations and large-scale platform changes

Advanced proficiency in SEO audit tools and data platforms (e.g., Google Search Console, Botify, Screaming Frog, Adobe Analytics)

Exceptional leadership and mentoring abilities

Clear communication and influencing skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field
