Position Overview – Commercial Truck Driver

As a vital member of the PODS team, the Commercial Truck Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and customer-focused delivery and pickup of PODS containers using a patented lift system. This role involves operating a commercial vehicle, managing daily inspections, and ensuring outstanding service during every customer interaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate a commercial truck equipped with a patented lift mechanism to load and unload storage containers at customer locations, following all safety protocols.

• Perform and document pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and lift equipment to ensure operational safety and compliance.

• Accept and complete add-on deliveries as needed to meet dynamic business demands.

• Use a company-issued handheld device for route navigation, delivery verification, and recordkeeping.

• Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes as required.

• Clean and inspect storage containers to maintain company standards of presentation.

• Assist customers with rental agreements and payment processes.

• Communicate effectively with the Driver Lead or Market Manager regarding customer concerns or delivery challenges, and document relevant driver notes.

• Conduct basic repairs on containers and lift systems both in the field and at the storage center.

• Provide occasional support with storage center operations as needed.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the truck cab, ensuring it remains free from debris.

• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business needs.

Supervision & Reporting

• Reports directly to: Market Manager or Territory Manager.

• This position does not include supervisory responsibilities or direct management of other employees.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly Pay Rate: $31.00 per hour

Qualifications & Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Valid CDL Class A license without air brake restrictions

• Must meet PODS Driver Qualification Standards

• Minimum age: 21 years (as required by insurance policy)

• Valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate (1-year minimum, per DOT regulations)

• Ability to attend and successfully complete a 2-week New Hire Driver Training Program

• Basic computer literacy and comfort using handheld electronic devices preferred

• Functional math skills for standard job duties

• Hands-on experience with mechanical or material handling equipment is a plus

• Combination of education, training, or relevant experience will be considered
