 Key Responsibilities of an Education Coordinator

  • Advise on education provision for children supported by the Centre.

  • Monitor the academic progress of all attached children.

  • Support Centre staff with education-related matters.

  • Develop education support policies and procedures.

  • Attend multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to Childcare and Personal Education Plans.

  • Liaise with schools, virtual schools, foster carers, and local authorities to address education needs.

  • Maintain accurate education case records and reports.

  • Build relationships with schools and professional partners.

 Skills & Requirements for an Education Coordinator

To thrive as an Education Coordinator, candidates should have:

  • Relevant teaching or educational experience across all Key Stages.

  • Knowledge of working with children with complex or additional needs.

  • Understanding of the educational entitlements for looked-after children.

  • Flexibility, creativity, and effective decision-making skills in challenging situations.

  • Strong communication, partnership-building, and safeguarding awareness.
