About the Role
We are looking for Electrical Construction Fitters with Low Voltage or High Voltage experience to join our in-house Construction Team at SSEN Distribution. We also welcome applicants from an electrical trade background who are keen to transition into the high voltage energy sector.
You’ll be part of a dedicated and safety-first team responsible for constructing and installing equipment in substations across the electricity distribution network from 11kV to 132kV.
What You’ll Be Doing

Deliver construction projects within live electricity substations, following safety rules and legislation.

Install and commission CT Metering apparatus.

Operate MEWPs, telehandlers, and construct mobile scaffolding (training provided).

Work with a personal development plan tailored to your career growth at SSE.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
-
Experience installing electrical systems, containment, cabling, plant, or small wiring.
-
Commitment to safety, knowledge of CDM regulations, and strong communication skills.

Full, clean UK driving licence.
-
Willingness to travel and work flexible hours across Southern England.
Desirable (but not essential):
-
Previous work in live substation environments (11kV–132kV).

Experience with:

DC battery systems
-
Multicore cable terminating & glanding
-
Circuit breaker/isolator wiring
-
Panel modifications, AC/DC wiring
-
-
Operational authorisations on an electricity network.

Training/qualifications in:
-
Working at height, confined spaces, SMSTS
-
Telehandler, MEWPs, scaffolding
-
Asbestos awareness, COSHH, LOLER
