We are seeking a licensed Journeyman Electrician to perform installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems across facilities, plants, and capital projects. This role requires technical expertise, safety commitment, and the ability to lead and direct personnel in lower classifications.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Functions
-
Read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications to install and repair wiring, control systems, heating equipment, and communication systems

Determine materials and equipment needed for jobs and prepare schedules
-
Install electrical equipment for new capital projects and modifications to existing plants
-
Operate boom/bucket trucks and vehicles over 26,000 lbs (as required)
-
Perform duties of Electrical Mechanic (T223) as needed
-
Direct and oversee the work of junior staff
Other Responsibilities
-
Perform incidental duties as required
-
Use standard trade instruments and tools
-
Work in varying environments and conditions
-
Assume emergency management duties when assigned (not including routine trouble calls)
Qualifications
Basic Requirements
-
Ability to distinguish colors, shades, hues, and tints (required for electrical work)

Must hold or qualify for a State of Hawaii driver’s license and meet company driving standards

Ability to obtain a Medical Examiner’s Certificate
-
Must hold or qualify for a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

Must successfully complete the Company Job Sample Test
Education & Licensing
-
Required: Graduate of an applicable Apprentice Program (or equivalent experience) AND a certified State of Hawaii Electrician’s License
-
Preferred Progression: Graduate of Hawaiian Electric’s Electrical Mechanic Apprentice Program AND a certified State of Hawaii Electrician’s License

Must pass the Company Written Job Knowledge Test within 1 year (for progression to Sr. Electrician)
