Stride K12 is seeking a highly qualified, state-certified Elementary School Teacher to deliver instruction in an online learning environment. Teachers provide guidance, monitor progress via Stride K12’s learning management system, and work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to support academic growth. While this is a virtual role, occasional travel (approximately 20% of the time) is required for state testing and school events.

The mission of Friendship Public Charter School Online (FPCSO) is to provide individualized, engaging, and rigorous educational experiences for students through school-community-family partnerships. Teachers play a key role in student success and are supported through a culture of inclusion, innovation, and professional development.

Responsibilities

Instructional:

  • Deliver live synchronous instruction (minimum 15 hours per week) and provide asynchronous support.

  • Take ownership of students’ academic progress, attendance, and engagement.

  • Prepare students for standardized tests and support individualized learning plans.

  • Utilize data to monitor performance, guide instruction, and report progress.

  • Collaborate with teacher trainers, administrators, and other staff to optimize instruction.

Relationship Building:

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and families.

  • Support parents/learning coaches with curriculum, technology, and online tools.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure student success and clear communication.

Other Essential Functions:

  • Organize social and educational activities, including virtual clubs and school events.

  • Travel to proctor state exams and participate in professional development sessions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Elementary School Teaching Certification in VA, MD, or DC.

  • At least six months of student teaching experience.

  • Ability to clear background checks.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Canvas, PowerSchool, and online teaching platforms.

  • Reliable high-speed internet and a professional home office.

  • Knowledge of state content standards and K12 curriculum alignment.

  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in online teaching, virtual environments, or supporting technology use for students and adults.
