About the Role
Highpoint Virtual Academy of Michigan (HVAM), a Stride K12 partner school, is seeking a certified Elementary Special Education Teacher with a Michigan Teaching Certification and Special Education endorsement. This is a full-time, virtual teaching position open to residents of all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
The Special Education Teacher will deliver online instruction, manage the learning process, and provide individualized support as defined by each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). You will work directly with students and parents, ensure compliance with documentation, and support student growth and success in a virtual environment.
Compensation

Base salary: ~$51,000 plus eligibility for a performance bonus

Salary range: $26,104 – $68,361.27, depending on education, experience, and location

Key Responsibilities

Deliver special education services as determined by IEP teams

Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and state-specific documentation

Facilitate IEP meetings and collaborate with service providers and families

Provide accommodations, modifications, and assistive technology as needed

Collect and analyze student data to track progress toward IEP goals

Create engaging virtual learning experiences (synchronous & asynchronous)

Support parents/learning coaches with instructional and troubleshooting needs

Prepare students for standardized assessments

Maintain accurate records, gradebooks, and communication with families

Travel up to 20% for professional development, testing, and school events
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

Active Michigan Teaching Certification with Special Education endorsement

Ability to pass background checks
Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching elementary students

Prior online teaching or technology-supported instruction

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, virtual learning platforms, and CRM tools
