About the Role

The Elementary Special Education Teacher is a certified educator responsible for providing online instruction, support, and guidance to students with special needs. The teacher will implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensure compliance with state and federal requirements, and work closely with families to create a personalized and inclusive learning experience.

This is a remote teaching position requiring a Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Special Education endorsement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging instruction tailored to students’ IEPs.

  • Develop, review, and maintain compliant IEPs, progress reports, and documentation.

  • Collaborate with parents, service providers, and administrators to ensure all special education services are implemented effectively.

  • Adapt lessons, assessments, and learning materials to meet diverse student needs.

  • Track and analyze student progress to guide remediation or enrichment.

  • Maintain accurate records of communications, interventions, and student data.

  • Provide both synchronous (live) and asynchronous (self-paced) learning experiences.

  • Communicate regularly with families, providing updates and instructional support.

  • Support general education inclusion and ensure equal opportunities for all learners.

  • Travel occasionally (up to 20%) for testing, training, or professional development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certification with Special Education endorsement.

  • Ability to pass a background check.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience teaching in virtual or blended learning environments.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and data interpretation skills.

  • Comfort with technology and ability to adapt to new online learning tools.

  • Experience working with elementary-age students and families.

  • Competitive salary range ($26,104–$68,361) depending on experience, location, and qualifications.

Work Environment

  • Fully virtual position; requires a distraction-free home office setup.

  • Typical hours: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. or 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
