Job Description
The Teacher is a highly qualified, state-certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. Teachers provide instruction, support, and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs. They actively monitor student progress, work closely with students and parents/Learning Coaches, and ensure academic success through individualized instruction.
Teachers typically work from home but must travel occasionally throughout the year for school functions, state testing, and professional development.
Stride K12, through its partner school Ohio Virtual Academy (OHVA), provides families with a high-quality, personalized online learning experience. OHVA’s mission is to deliver individualized and engaging education through strong partnerships, rigorous curriculum, and student-centered instruction.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional

Deliver 15+ hours of synchronous online teaching weekly.

Support learning asynchronously (emails, lesson plans, course adjustments).

Prepare students for standardized tests.

Grade, assess, and track student progress.

Adapt curriculum per school requirements.
Relationship Building

Communicate regularly with students, parents, and Learning Coaches.

Support parents/guardians in the virtual learning process.

Collaborate with colleagues for student success.
Other Duties

Organize student activities, clubs, and outings.

Travel monthly for testing/professional development.

Participate in committees and staff onboarding.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree.

6+ months of student teaching experience.
-
Ohio Elementary Teacher Certification.

Meets Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) standards.

Must reside in Ohio, United States.
Skills & Knowledge

Knowledge of Ohio/state content standards.

Strong instructional and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Comfortable with virtual teaching platforms.

Reliable internet and distraction-free home office.
Preferred

Online or classroom teaching experience.

Familiarity with Blackboard or similar systems.
