Job Summary
Provide an elementary education program that helps students develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for continued education. Promote academic, social, and citizenship development through classroom instruction and leadership.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction
-
Prepare and deliver lessons at an appropriate level of difficulty and in a logical sequence.

Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet student needs.
-
Meet and instruct classes at designated times and locations.
-
Identify pupil needs and provide tailored instruction.
-
Analyze student data to develop and modify lessons.
-
Follow modifications and accommodations outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
-
Implement Idaho Core Standards and district instructional goals in lesson plans, instruction, and assessments.
-
Create written and oral assignments that encourage analytical and critical thinking.
-
Prepare students academically for district, state, and federal testing.
-
Maintain effective use of classroom time.
Student Support
-
Encourage students to reach their full potential.
-
Establish and communicate classroom rules and behavior standards.
-
Be available to students and parents outside of instructional hours as needed.
-
Maintain open communication with students and parents about academic and behavioral progress.
-
Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Elementary Education Focus
-
Promote active learning with structured and unstructured activities that support social, physical, cognitive, and emotional development.
-
Observe and evaluate students’ skills in various settings.
-
Maintain records of student progress.
-
Facilitate smooth transitions from preschool, kindergarten, and early primary grades programs.
Professional Contacts and Activities
-
Attend faculty meetings and IEP meetings as required.
-
Collaborate with special education teachers.
-
Keep supervisors informed of activities and issues.
-
Cooperate with staff in planning curriculum, goals, objectives, and teaching methods.
Other Duties
-
Enforce and uphold school rules.
-
Maintain accurate and complete records per federal and state law and Board policy.
-
Input data in a timely fashion.
-
Participate in professional growth through meetings, memberships, courses, and reading.

Adhere to The Code of Ethics of the Idaho Teaching Profession.

Represent the school district positively.
-
Follow school district policy and chain of command.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
-
Idaho teaching certificate with an appropriate endorsement (Standard Elementary, Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education Blended, or Generalist).

Strong background in teaching methods, curriculum, and Idaho Core Standards.
-
Experience with classroom management and developmentally appropriate activities.
-
Knowledge of integrating technology with instruction.
-
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
-
Ability to maintain a positive learning environment and work well under deadlines.
-
Ability to maintain confidentiality of staff and students.
