• About the Job

  BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a full-time Emergency Service Head Veterinarian to join our team at our Midtown Manhattan location, serving Greater Manhattan, including Hell’s Kitchen, the Upper West Side, and Central Park.

  The Emergency Service Head is both a clinically practicing veterinarian and the manager of the hospital’s Emergency Room (ER) team. As the supervisor of ER clinicians, this role is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations affecting direct reports, such as scheduling, hiring, training, mentoring, and conducting regular ER meetings. The Emergency Service Head also represents the ER team as a leader in the hospital, working closely with the Medical Director to ensure the highest quality of patient care. The role requires flexibility, with the incumbent working across various shifts to support the team.

  What You Need to Excel in This Role

  • DVM from an accredited university required

  • Successful completion of a rotating internship or BluePearl’s EmERge program required

  • 2+ years of clinical experience required

  • Valid DVM licensure

  • Strong multitasking abilities and experience managing competing priorities

  • Prior shift lead experience preferred

  • Excellent leadership skills, with outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication

  • Ability to mentor and train less experienced clinicians and interns

  • Demonstrated stress tolerance and attention to detail
