You’ll play a crucial role in resolving complex claim disputes under the No Surprises Act while helping to ensure fair and accurate payment outcomes in the healthcare system.
What You’ll Do as an Entry-Level Medical Coder
In this position, you will review and validate claim data, ensuring payment outcomes are correct and compliant. As an Entry-Level Medical Coder, your main responsibilities will include:
- Analyzing CPT codes and documentation to identify the correct party in disputed claims.
- Handling emergency services cases, including ambulance and air ambulance claims.
- Using proprietary claims management systems to process cases efficiently.
- Collaborating with internal teams to resolve a backlog of claims.
(Note: This is not a coding-intensive role—you’ll apply coding knowledge to interpret and validate claims rather than perform actual coding.)
Skills and Qualifications for Entry-Level Medical Coder
To succeed as an Entry-Level Medical Coder, you should bring:
- CPC or CPC-A certification (required).
- 2–3 years of experience in Medical Collections or Billing (required).
- Familiarity with emergency services billing (preferred).
- Experience with EOBs and appeals (highly preferred).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Adaptability and enthusiasm to contribute to a growing team.
