Overview:
Georgia Power is hiring an Environmental Analyst / Specialist / Engineer to lead and support environmental compliance, remediation, emergency response, and waste-related programs across its business units. The position may be based at the Atlanta HQ or remotely anywhere in Georgia, with an in-office expectation of four days per week (or as required).
Key Responsibilities:

Serve as subject matter expert in environmental compliance, remediation, and emergency spill response.

Ensure compliance with major environmental regulations (RCRA, CERCLA, HSRA, TSCA, etc.).

Develop and implement environmental strategies, guidelines, and training.

Conduct and manage site investigations, corrective actions, and cleanups under GA programs (HSRA, VRP, Brownfield).

Perform due diligence for acquisitions and divestitures.
-
Lead remediation projects, audits, groundwater monitoring, and reporting.

Interface directly with GA EPD and federal regulatory agencies.

Collaborate with internal business units and Southern Company teams to advocate for effective environmental regulations.

Support company environmental policy, sustainability goals, and stewardship initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a science-related field (e.g., Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Geology).

3–5+ years’ experience in environmental compliance, due diligence, remediation, auditing, or project management.

Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental laws and regulations.

Experience managing subcontractors and cross-functional teams.
-
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet fleet vehicle eligibility criteria (see below).
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with GA-specific programs (VRP, HSRA, UST, Brownfield).

Familiarity with energy sector operations (Distribution, Transmission, Generation).

Waste management and emergency response experience.

OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.

Professional licensure or certification in environmental disciplines.

Fleet Vehicle Requirement:
This position requires use of a company vehicle. Applicants must:

Hold a valid driver’s license with at least 1 year of driving experience.

Have no major driving violations within the past 12 months.
