About the Job
Burford’s Construction is seeking a skilled Equipment Operator (EO) to join our team. In this role, you will operate and maintain specialized forestry equipment such as Jarraffs, brush cutters, and Timberlands to support vegetation management and line clearance work. This is a hands-on role requiring responsibility, safety awareness, and strong teamwork.

Essential Functions
As an Equipment Operator, you will:

  • Prioritize safety in all operations and tasks.

  • Operate and maintain specialized forestry equipment.

  • Perform vegetation management tasks, including pruning and removing trees near electrical conductors.

  • Demonstrate responsibility, trustworthiness, and the ability to follow safety procedures.

  • Support storm restoration efforts when required.

  • Travel as needed to various locations and work extended hours when required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license (CDL strongly preferred).

  • At least 1 year of experience operating specialized equipment.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English (bilingual Spanish/English a plus).

  • Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.

  • Physically capable of lifting over 50 lbs., climbing, and performing rigorous outdoor labor.

  • Willing to work overtime when requested.

Additional Requirements

  • Inspect and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) properly.

  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working order.

  • Follow company radio procedures and hand tool safety.

  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including inclement weather.

  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.

  • Adhere to all safety rules and company policies.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk, crouch, kneel, or crawl for extended periods.

  • Frequently lift/move items exceeding 50 lbs.

  • Strong vision (corrected if necessary), including depth perception and color recognition.

  • Comfortable working in noisy, dusty, or high-vibration environments.
