We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Event Coordinator to join our team at our Fort Walton Beach, FL store. If you love creativity, enjoy working with children, and thrive in a fast-paced retail environment, this role is for you!


Key Responsibilities

Event Coordination

  • Plan, organize, and host in-store events, including kids’ birthday parties and creative craft classes.

  • Engage guests of all ages (from 4 to 94+) with fun, safe, and creative experiences.

  • Lead craft demonstrations, face painting, and other hands-on activities.

  • Manage event add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, and decorations.

  • Communicate with clients and team members to coordinate event details.

  • Handle event logistics, from setup and clean-up to administrative tasks (calls, emails, paperwork).

  • Ensure client satisfaction and make adjustments based on feedback.

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards throughout events.

Customer Experience & Store Support

  • Deliver excellent customer service by helping shoppers find products and solutions.

  • Provide fast and friendly checkout service.

  • Educate customers on Michaels Rewards and credit card programs.

  • Support online orders including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).

  • Assist with truck unload, stocking, merchandising, and planogram setup.

  • Maintain store recovery standards and support safety/shrink initiatives.

  • Participate in daily cleaning and contribute to store presentation.


Qualifications

  • Energetic, enthusiastic personality with excellent people skills.

  • Experience working with children and coordinating children’s events required.

  • Strong communication (verbal, written, nonverbal, and listening) skills.

  • Highly organized with strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.

  • Prior retail or customer service experience required.

  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift boxes, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks.
