About the Role
Join Smithfield Foods, a leading American food company specializing in packaged meats and fresh pork products. As a Transportation & Customer Service Coordinator, you will provide top-tier support to route drivers, contract growers, and farm managers. You’ll manage schedules, coordinate routes, monitor personnel and equipment, and ensure timely pick-up of animal disposal operations. Key Responsibilities

Serve as primary contact for route drivers, contract growers, and farm managers via phone, email, or in person.

Generate and maintain master schedules for personnel and equipment.

Monitor traffic conditions and adjust schedules as needed to meet operational goals.

Troubleshoot operational delays and implement solutions to maintain schedule accuracy.

Perform driver and equipment audits, sanitation inspections, and track vehicle/GPS data.

Handle incoming calls, resolve issues tactfully, and document all service interactions.

Ensure compliance with federal and state DOT regulations and company policies.

Collaborate with management to adjust daily routes and workflows.

Assist with special projects and emergency situations, including power outages or personnel shortages.

Maintain accurate records using Microsoft Office and other computerized tracking systems.
Qualifications
-
High school diploma or GED required (internal candidates with 4+ years at Smithfield may have educational requirements waived).

Ability to work 48+ hours per week with 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Strong organizational, leadership, verbal, and written communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Ability to make decisions independently in deadline-oriented and stressful situations.

Strong interpersonal, active listening, and decision-making skills.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Capable of sitting or working a 12-hour shift; occasional standing, walking, bending, or stooping required.

Work may involve leaning, squatting, or light physical activity as needed.

Role is primarily sedentary with occasional movement throughout the shift.
