Primary Responsibilities
Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
- Achieve a daily directional boring goal of placing 1,200 linear feet of conduit per drill.
- Work collaboratively as a Locator and Operator team to meet production targets.
- Plan and execute directional boring efficiently, minimizing extra workload on team members (Locator).
- Mark and locate boring paths before drilling (Locator).
- Maintain regular communication with supervisors, foremen, and construction managers (Locator).
- Record daily production using logs and GIS applications (Locator).
- Maintain accurate boring profiles and submit records (Locator).
- Report any damages according to regulations (Locator).
- Operate and maintain the directional bore machine, ensuring proper setup and daily maintenance (Operator).
- Ensure all necessary materials, equipment, and water are available daily (Operator).
- Follow all safety protocols on-site.
- Keep vehicles and equipment clean and drive to job sites as needed.
- Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist in various fiber network construction tasks, such as vault installation, restoration, and cable placement.
- Perform additional construction duties as needed, including equipment operation, trenching, plowing, excavation, road cutting, vault setting, and site cleanup.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License required; CDL strongly preferred.
- Maintain a DOT medical card and pass a drug screening.
- Minimum one year of experience in the construction industry.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to multitask effectively.
- Familiarity with One Call excavation rules, processes, and procedures.
- Experience operating directional boring equipment and other machinery such as backhoes, mini-excavators, vacuum excavators, cable plows, and trenchers.
- Experience with cable blowing, installation, and splicing is a plus.
- Knowledge of State and Federal Safety Regulations.
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in various conditions.
- Willingness to travel during winter months is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to perform the following tasks with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Hear and have clear visual acuity, including close-range vision.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Walk, stoop, climb, kneel, bend, and crawl at job sites.
- Remain active for an entire 8-hour shift.
