About the Opportunity
We’re excited to offer three Finance and Contracting Assistant placements as part of our 12-month fixed term student placement scheme starting August 2025. This role provides a valuable chance for university students to gain hands-on experience working within a busy financial environment supporting NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board (ICB).
What You’ll Do

Support the Finance Directorate by producing accurate financial information, analysing data, and assisting with report writing

Gain practical experience across Management Accounts, Contracting, and Corporate Finance teams

Work closely with budget holders and contract managers to support efficient financial services

Manage your time effectively and deliver tasks within tight deadlines
Who We’re Looking For
Successful candidates will:

Have completed their second year of an undergraduate degree in finance, business studies, accounting, or a related field at a university in Salford or Manchester

Hold GCSEs in Maths and English

Have experience using computer systems

Be proactive, with good organisational skills and a willingness to learn
A personalised work experience plan will be set at the start of the placement, with regular progress reviews supported by both the university and NHS staff.
Context
Since 2015, Greater Manchester has been working as an Integrated Care System (ICS), bringing together health, social care, and voluntary sector partners. The ICS was formalised by government legislation starting in 2022, leading to the creation of the Greater Manchester ICS NHS Body responsible for commissioning and healthcare planning.
This placement offers a unique insight into how finance supports the evolving ICS structure and local health services.
