Job Summary

The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking a Finance and Procurement Specialist (Intermediate or Senior Professional, based on experience). This role supports the department’s financial integrity and operational efficiency by managing accounting functions (50%), procurement processes (30%), and contract-related activities (20%).

The Specialist ensures compliance with University and CU Medicine policies and serves as a key resource for procurement and financial transactions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process financial transactions (e.g., interdepartmental transfers, journal entries, cash receipts)

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reconciliation and variance reports for clinical budgets

  • Assist in developing financial analysis tools for monthly reviews

  • Perform procurement tasks in systems such as CU Marketplace, CU Med COR360, and Concur

  • Coordinate procurement of clinical and educational equipment, ensuring compliance with procurement policies

  • Manage contracts through UCD and CU Medicine systems; coordinate with relevant stakeholders

  • Liaise with central procurement and contracting teams

  • Develop and maintain departmental procurement guidelines and training resources


Work Location

Onsite initially for the first four months. Afterward, hybrid scheduling may be considered at the supervisor’s discretion. The team emphasizes collaboration and maintains mandatory on-campus days.

Minimum Qualifications

Intermediate Professional:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, healthcare administration, or related field

  • Substitution: Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience accepted

  • 1+ year of professional experience in procurement, contracting, vendor relations, and/or finance

Senior Professional:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • Substitution: Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience accepted

  • 2+ years of professional experience in procurement, contracting, vendor relations, and/or finance


Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of progressive experience in procurement, contracting, or finance

  • Experience with Concur, Marketplace, COR360, or similar systems

  • Higher education or academic medical environment experience

  • Familiarity with CU or CU Medicine procurement/contracting processes

  • Proficiency with Excel and financial reporting tools

  • Strong financial analysis and budgeting skills

  • Ability to manage procurement and contract workflows independently

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Compensation

Intermediate Professional: $48,264 – $61,393 annually
Senior Professional: $52,178 – $66,370 annually

Final salary is commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
This role may be eligible for overtime depending on classification.
