Finance Assistant – Fixed Term (6 Months)

Contract: Full-Time | Fixed Term – 6 Months
Salary: £25,000 – £35,000 per annum, DOE + Profit-Related Bonus
Hours: 37.5 hours/week | Monday to Friday | No weekends

Are you an experienced finance professional with a meticulous eye for detail and a passion for process improvement? Bluefruit Software is seeking a Finance Assistant to play a key role in supporting our finance operations during an exciting period of growth. Based at our Cornwall HQ, this 6-month fixed-term position offers the chance to contribute to a values-led, employee-owned company that prioritizes quality, balance, and collaboration.
What You’ll Be Doing
Working closely with our Finance Director and key stakeholders, you’ll help ensure smooth financial operations, from daily bookkeeping to month-end reporting. Your core responsibilities will include:
Day-to-Day Financial Operations

Accurate transaction processing and end-to-end bookkeeping

Managing accounts receivable and supporting accounts payable

Handling payroll and pension processes, responding to payroll-related queries
Reporting & Reconciliations

Month-end close: accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, variance analysis

Assisting with internal financial reports, commentary, and compliance

Supporting the creation of financial forecasts and R&D tax credit claims
Process Improvement & Support

Helping shape financial policies and process improvements

Collaborating cross-functionally to maintain robust financial practices
What You’ll Need
Essential Skills & Experience

Minimum 3 years of recent experience in accounting roles

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level)

Solid grasp of double-entry bookkeeping and core accounting principles

Experience preparing financial statements

Strong communication skills and attention to detail

Familiarity with accounting software

AAT Level 2 or an accounting-related degree
Desirable Skills

Experience with Xero accounting software

Exposure to financial forecasting and internal reporting

Manual reconciliation experience

Studying towards AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or ICAEW qualifications
