Job Details:
The Financial Accountant plays a key role in managing and supporting all accounting and financial reporting activities for CHRISTUS Health and its regional affiliates. The position focuses on maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and contributing to effective fiscal management. The role involves overseeing monthly and annual closings, preparing detailed financial statements, performing reconciliations, assisting with audits, and supporting tax and government reporting processes.
Responsibilities:

Manage monthly closing and financial reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate results.

Prepare and analyze balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.

Conduct account reconciliations and variance analyses to detect and resolve discrepancies.

Assist with external audits and maintain compliance with GAAP and internal policies.

Support tax reporting and other regulatory financial requirements.

Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.

Collaborate with other departments to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

Identify and implement improvements to enhance financial efficiency and reporting accuracy.

Stay updated on evolving accounting standards and healthcare financial regulations.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience).

CPA certification or MBA preferred.

Minimum four years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in healthcare.

Strong understanding of GAAP, auditing, and financial reporting standards.

Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
