About the Role

The City of Waco is seeking a Financial Analyst I to join our Finance Department. This role supports city-wide financial planning, analysis, and reporting to ensure strong fiscal management and alignment with strategic goals. You will assist in preparing and administering the annual budget, monitor financial performance, build financial models, and provide insights to city leadership for better decision-making.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in preparing and administering the annual budget (revenue & expenditure forecasting).

  • Collaborate with department heads to analyze financial data and monitor budget performance.

  • Review and analyze financial statements, identify trends, and recommend improvements.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting and long-term planning.

  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses for projects, initiatives, and policy changes.

  • Support financial strategies, risk management, and process improvements.

  • Stay current on financial best practices, regulations, and trends.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities.

  • May be required to respond during city-wide emergencies, including holidays and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
