Do you have experience managing financial matters in a non-profit? We’re looking for a Finance Controller to bring onboard for one of our not-for-profit clients. This is a 20-month contract opportunity performed in Ottawa, on-site on a full-time basis. As a successful hire, you’d be responsible for overseeing financial matters and supporting organizational compliance.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, budgeting, and analysis —ideally in a not-for-profit
- CPA designation required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related
- Proven expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, and team management
- Advanced skills in MS Excel and Sage 300
- Bilingualism in English and French is an asset
About the role
If hired, you will:
- Oversee budgeting, accounting, and compliance with GAAP
- Prepare financial reports for programs, projects, and the Charitable Foundation
- Manage treasury functions, reconciliations, and financial corrections
- Design systems for audits and maintain internal controls
- Lead external audits and ensure submission of required finance reports
- Support managers in budget planning, control, and performance tracking
- Oversee Finance staff, set standards, and promote training opportunities
- Develop policies and goals for reporting, controls, and efficiencies
- Guide system improvements, project implementation, and operations
- Act as an alternate signing authority when required
