Our client, a full-service Restaurant Group, is looking for a self-motivated, detail oriented, results-driven Financial Controller, for a full-time position based out of their corporate office in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The primary responsibilities of this role include managing and improving financial performance and directing the accounting operations team; creating and managing to budget; developing financial plans that support the Company’s growth strategy; implementing proper financial internal controls; assessing the financial performance of the Company through timely production of financial statements; overseeing the annual audit; and acting as the in-house liaison to the PEO and 401K administrator.
Essential Functions:
- Recognize patterns in spending and revenue. Proactively recommend solutions to any areas of concern
- Owner of the company’s financial systems
- Oversee Monthly closing procedures
- Prepare detailed reports on financial performance on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis; issue timely statements to each department as well as Board and Partners
- Manage corporate relationship with accountants and financial auditors
- Perform regular financial analysis, including the monitoring of expenditure and cashflow; report to CEO
- Oversee annual insurance policies and renewals
- Develop and implement proper (GAAP) accounting policies and procedures
- Streamline accounting functions and operations (where applicable)
- Train accounting staff (when applicable)
- Prepare monthly forecasts and comprehensive annual budgets
- Review departmental budgets with department heads
- Oversee vendor contracts
- Owner of Gift Card Program to ensure compliance with regulations
- Owner of 401K plan; liaison to plan administrator to ensure compliance
- Owner of HR; work with contracted PEO to onboard new employees, select annual medical plans, etc.
- Keep up to date with industry and technological changes that impact the business
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting; MBA a plus
- Experience with restaurant inventory costing systems a plus
- 5+ years’ experience in working with senior management to align financial strategies and analyses
- 5+years’ experience in finance management
- Sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals
- Proficiency in QuickBooks
- Strong computer skills a must; knowledge of Microsoft 365
- Ability to think strategically and creatively
- Excellent negotiation, analytical and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively in fast paced office and ability to multi-task.
- Self-motivated and detail oriented to actively implement new ideas and projects in a team environment.
