Job Summary
Bupa’s Cromwell Hospital is seeking a proactive and experienced Float Medical Secretary to join our team. In this pivotal role, you’ll provide vital secretarial and administrative support to a range of private consultants during periods of staff absence (e.g., holiday and sickness), ensuring continuity of exceptional service for patients and clinicians.
Key Responsibilities

Provide consistent, high-quality secretarial services during other secretaries’ absences

Act as liaison between consultants and hospital departments, resolving issues in-house

Manage all communications – phone, email, and internal correspondence

Accurately transcribe and prepare medical reports and letters

Generate and send invoices to insurance companies or patients

Book theatre slots, consultations, and procedures using accurate coding and systems

Coordinate with departments such as pathology, radiology, reservations, and medical records

Maintain and update patient records, systems, and documentation

Support billing, finance, and typing tasks as needed

Ensure patient billing security and documentation is compliant and recorded
Required Skills & Experience

Experience as a Medical Secretary within private healthcare is essential

Knowledge of MDT (Multi-Disciplinary Team) processes preferred

Proficiency with Semble (formerly Heydoc) or similar systems
-
Strong administrative, organisational, and multitasking abilities
-
Excellent communication, telephone, and interpersonal skills

Highly IT literate with good time management and prioritisation

Ability to work independently and adapt across consultant practices
