About the Role
Ball State University Dining is seeking a Food Service Cashier to join our team. This role combines excellent customer service with cashiering and food service responsibilities. You’ll ensure smooth and accurate transactions, maintain cleanliness, and contribute to a welcoming dining experience. Key Responsibilities

Operate electronic terminals and handle cash and card transactions with high accuracy.

Count, wrap, and verify money; prepare detailed daily media reports.

Provide exceptional customer service and communicate customer concerns to supervisors.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of cashier stations and dining areas.

Assist with food prep, serving, and setup for special meals or events.

Follow all safety, food handling, and university policies.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the dining operation.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, lift up to 35 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.

Comfortable working in dining room environmental conditions including heat, steam, and cleaning agents.
Qualifications

Successful completion of Cashier Training Class and passing final test.

Must be 18 years or older.

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Clean personal appearance, teeth, hair, nails, and clothing.

No allergies to soaps, cleaning agents, or common food service materials.
Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience with cashiering and computerized cash registers.

Experience in fast food, snack bars, or similar commercial food establishments.
Schedule
-
Varying shifts, generally 1:30 PM – 10:30 PM; Sundays off.
