Position Overview
The Underground Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of production facilities, including underground mining activities and plant functions. This role requires close communication with the Mine Manager, supervision of mine personnel, scheduling plant maintenance, and ensuring safe and efficient operations. The Foreman reports directly to the Mine Manager.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and all team members.

Follow company policies and comply with OSHA/MSHA safety regulations.

Oversee underground operations including: drilling, blasting, scaling, material transfer, load/haul, surveying, dust control, ventilation testing, lighting, electrical controls, mine road/site maintenance, escapeways, and mine development.

Supervise drilling and blasting activities.

Ensure daily production goals are set, communicated, and achieved.

Schedule and monitor plant maintenance; coordinate major repairs with the Mine Manager.

Report problems to the Mine Manager, Operations Manager, Safety Manager, or HR as appropriate.

Manage, schedule, and monitor personnel and time worked.

Train employees in safe and proper equipment operation, servicing, and minor repairs.

Perform general labor/operator duties when necessary.

Maintain regular attendance and complete additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
-
High School Diploma or GED required; BS in Mining Engineering or related field preferred.

Minimum 2 years of experience in mining operations or related field.

Leadership/management experience strongly preferred.

Prior experience in the construction or mining industry strongly preferred.

Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Strong communication, organization, planning, and time management skills.

Ability to work in extreme weather (hot and cold).

Willingness to travel, work nights, and weekends as required.

Strict adherence to company and OSHA/MSHA safety standards.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products; willingness to learn internal software.
