Position Overview: Forensic Coder

The Forensic Coder is a certified coding expert responsible for analyzing, improving, and educating around coding processes. This role supports special projects, provides feedback, and ensures compliance with the latest coding standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform root cause analysis of front- and back-end coding opportunities.

  • Lead or support coding improvement projects.

  • Conduct research and provide coding guidance for new services or client lines.

  • Educate and mentor coders and providers.

  • Participate in coding meetings, compliance updates, and educational sessions.

  • Stay updated with payer guidelines, Correct Coding Initiative edits, and National Coverage Determinations.

  • Demonstrate strong initiative, collaboration, and professional responsibility.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 4+ years of coding experience required (5 years preferred).

  • Expertise in multiple specialties such as Cardiology, Vascular, CVTS, Ortho, or ENT.

  • Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.

  • Strong skills in organization, communication, and analytical problem-solving.

  • Experience with EPIC and coding software tools.

  • Dual Certification (AAPC or AHIMA – CPC or CCS) required.

  • High School Diploma or GED minimum education requirement.
