Forklift Operator – Job Overview
What You Need to Succeed as a Forklift Operator at XPO
Minimum Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years old.

Ability to perform basic math calculations, with or without a calculator.

Flexible availability to work various shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, depending on freight volume.
Preferred Qualifications:

Previous dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry.

Forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment.

Experience loading and unloading trailers.
-
Strong attention to detail and a drive to succeed.
Compensation and Benefits

Starting pay: $20.39 per hour.

Comprehensive benefits package available for employees scheduled 30+ hours per week.

This position is Motor Carrier Act Exempt.
Key Responsibilities
-
Efficiently sort, handle, load, and unload both palletized and non-palletized freight.

Operate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts.

Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies.
-
Maintain a safe and efficient work environment by following company safety policies.

Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments.
-
Work in non-climate-controlled environments for extended periods.
Physical Requirements
-
Lift freight and objects of varying shapes, sizes, and weights—frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally over 70 lbs.

Stand and walk for extended periods on a non-climate-controlled and potentially slippery loading dock.

Perform various physical movements, including reaching, bending, climbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, squatting, and kneeling, as needed.
