Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of older people? Age UK’s Telephone Friendship Service is expanding, and we’re seeking dedicated individuals to join us as Friendship Coordinators. In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in connecting older adults with trained volunteers, helping to alleviate loneliness and foster meaningful relationships. As a Friendship Coordinator, you’ll ensure that our service runs smoothly, providing support and guidance to both members and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Matches: Facilitate and manage the pairing of members with volunteers for weekly friendship calls.

  • Support Volunteers and Members: Provide assistance throughout the onboarding process and ongoing support to ensure positive experiences.

  • Safeguarding: Uphold and monitor safeguarding measures to protect all participants.

  • Communication: Respond to emails and calls, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.

  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the service.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Confident and friendly telephone manner.

  • Passion for supporting older people and understanding their needs.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT systems.

  • Ability to manage a busy workload effectively.

  • Commitment to promoting equality and diversity.

  • Team player with a positive attitude.

Location and Working Hours

  • Location: Hybrid role based in Blackpool or Ashburton, Devon. Regular travel to the office is required.

  • Hours: 35 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7 between 8am and 6pm. Includes weekend and bank holiday shifts on a rota basis.
