We’re looking for a Cashier to join our Gaylord, MI team and contribute to our People First culture.
The Cashier is responsible for operating the cash register and electronic scanner to itemize and total customer purchases, receive payments, and assist in bagging items — all while providing courteous, high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities

Operate cash register and scanner to itemize purchases across grocery, frozen, dairy, meat, produce, and other products.

Accurately process financial transactions (cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, coupons, etc.) per company policy.

Weigh and bag items carefully; assist in front-end merchandising (newspapers, candy, etc.).

Ensure accurate product identification and PLU use; report pricing/signage errors.

Promote loyalty programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers.

Comply with company policies regarding security, cash handling, and product handling (including alcohol and tobacco sales).

Maintain cleanliness, stock levels, and department safety/sanitation standards.

Follow PPE, safety guidelines, and food safety expectations.

May assist with stocking or be assigned tasks in other departments as needed.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
-
High school diploma or GED preferred.

One year of retail or related experience preferred.
Skills:
-
Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.

Organizational and detail-oriented mindset.

Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
Physical Requirements:
-
Ability to lift/move up to 30 lbs frequently, up to 50 lbs occasionally.

Extended periods of standing/walking; frequent bending, stooping, and twisting.

Exposure to varied store temperatures and occasional outdoor conditions.

Work environment noise level: low to moderate.
