Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced, proactive Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream primary school and provide full-time 1:1 support to two pupils in a Year 6 class, both with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role starts in September 2025 and will continue for the full academic year.
About the Pupils
Pupil A – High-Functioning ASD

Working at expected academic levels

Requires movement breaks (particularly in the afternoon)

Needs early intervention based on behavioural cues
-
Best supported with a calm, flexible, and observant approach
Pupil B – ASD/ADHD

On medication to support focus and regulation
-
Also working at expected levels academically

Needs consistent 1:1 support, with frequent modelling, repetition, and visual prompts

Benefits from structured routines and predictable instructions
Both pupils are seated together with structured learning resources in place.
Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience supporting Year 6 pupils (SATs experience desirable)

Strong understanding of ASD and ADHD strategies

Skilled at modelling, scaffolding, and task breakdowns

Responsive to pupils’ emotional and behavioural cues

Empathetic, adaptable, and professional

Strong communicator with staff, parents, and external professionals

Committed to making a long-term impact on pupil progress
