Position Overview

As an Operations Manager at Guitar Center, you’ll lead a team that keeps our stores running smoothly—from receiving and stocking merchandise to merchandising products on the sales floor. You’ll partner with the Store Manager to achieve sales and profitability goals while ensuring compliance with safety, loss prevention, and operational standards.

We’re looking for a strong leader with excellent organizational skills, retail/warehouse experience, and a passion for music and people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Store Manager to meet sales, margin, and operational goals

  • Hire, train, and mentor operations associates

  • Oversee shipping, receiving, inventory management, and warehouse organization

  • Maintain store standards, signage, and planogram compliance

  • Manage loss prevention, safety, cash handling, and business reporting

  • Serve as acting manager when needed, including opening/closing store duties

  • Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management for team members

  • Ensure compliance with Guitar Center’s culture of inclusion, respect, and integrity

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of retail or warehouse experience

  • Valid driver’s license with auto insurance

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a loud environment for extended periods

  • Flexible schedule (weekends, evenings, holidays required)

Preferred:

  • Associate’s degree

  • Knowledge of Guitar Center retail systems and operations
