EKFB is a joint venture that combines the expertise of four leading civil engineering and construction companies: Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction, and BAM Nuttall. Together, we specialize in the design, construction, operation, financing, and maintenance of railway networks, including one of Europe’s latest high-speed rail projects.
As part of the HS2 development, EKFB has been appointed to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high-speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. This includes constructing 15 viaducts, 5km of green tunnels, 22km of road diversions, 67 overbridges, and handling around 30 million cubic meters of excavation.
Job Overview – General Foreman
EKFB is looking for an experienced General Foreman to join our team in the Greatworth to Southam (G2S) section. This role is critical in ensuring that construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulations. The General Foreman will be responsible for leading, supervising, and mentoring site teams, ensuring the successful completion of key infrastructure projects within time and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities of the General Foreman
Project Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, coordinate, and supervise construction activities to ensure smooth project execution.
- Oversee a team of Foremen, Supervisors, and Site Operatives, ensuring quality work and high safety standards.
- Mentor and guide junior staff and subcontractors, fostering a culture of collaboration and productivity.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with EKFB policies, safety protocols, and SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) legislation.
- Conduct regular site inspections, toolbox talks, and risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure all site personnel have the necessary training, certifications, and safety briefings before starting work.
Operational & Logistical Management
- Schedule, coordinate, and supervise daily site activities, ensuring work progresses efficiently.
- Manage plant, materials, and equipment, ensuring availability and proper usage.
- Monitor and track project progress, labor allocation, and material consumption using site diaries and work logs.
Quality Control & Problem-Solving
- Review and enforce method statements, ensuring construction work aligns with approved plans and specifications.
- Identify and address potential delays or risks, implementing proactive solutions to keep the project on schedule.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to optimize construction methods and reduce costs.
Essential Requirements for the General Foreman Role
- Proven experience as a General Foreman on large-scale infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification – mandatory.
- CSCS Supervisor Card – required.
- CPCS certification – preferred.
- Strong knowledge of structural work, roadworks, and multi-disciplinary projects.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage labor, subcontractors, and resources efficiently.
- Valid UK Driving License – essential.
- Additional certifications such as First Aid Training, Environmental Awareness, and NRSWA Supervisor are desirable.
