Position Overview
Are you looking to experience the Alaskan outdoors while contributing to meaningful infrastructure projects? Southeast Road Builders (SERB), a trusted name in Alaska since 1977 and part of the Colas USA Family of Companies, is seeking hardworking and safety-minded Construction Laborers to join our growing team. This hands-on role plays a key part in our road construction and paving operations.
Key Responsibilities

Clean and prepare construction and paving surfaces

Shovel asphalt and other materials
-
Perform luting and raking of asphalt and aggregates
-
Set up and dismantle temporary work zones (cones, barrels, signage)
-
Manage traffic control in and around work sites (flagging duties)

Assist with loading/unloading and guiding dump trucks and milling machines
-
Handle hot liquid asphalt and other construction materials
-
Use jackhammers or saws to remove old pavement
-
Fill equipment water tanks and compact material with hand rollers/vibratory plates
-
Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition

Follow all safety protocols and perform other assigned duties
Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED
-
Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record

Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)
-
Commitment to DOT and company safety standards
Work Environment
-
Must wear and maintain proper PPE
-
Regular exposure to outdoor conditions including dust, noise, and varying weather
-
Physical work: long hours standing/walking, lifting, and working on uneven terrain

Must be comfortable operating in noisy, fast-paced environments
