Position Summary:
The Department Lead provides operational direction, supervises daily activities, and ensures the department meets Meijer standards. This role models outstanding customer service, supports team member development, and helps achieve sales and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Engage peers to deliver an exceptional shopping and checkout experience for customers.

Assign and communicate daily work tasks to team members.

Mentor, coach, and support team members to exceed customer service and sales goals.

Assist in training new hires and cross-training high-potential team members.

Collaborate with leadership on department scheduling to improve engagement, service, sales, and profitability.

Ensure freshness and quality by monitoring product rotation and dating policies.
-
Maintain compliance with food safety standards and regulations.
-
Lead tasks related to ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product displays.
-
Promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Operate a cash register and handle transactions as needed.

Safely operate powered equipment where applicable.

Participate in inventory counts and help achieve department goals.

Serve as Lead in other store departments when required.
Qualifications:

Passion for customer service with a friendly and approachable attitude.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Retail or customer service experience preferred.

Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to influence and motivate others.
